Colonial treasures with a taste of tequila itinerary

Day 1:

MEXICO CITY

Flight from your hometown to Mexico City International Airport.

Arrival at Mexico City International Airport and transfer to the hotel. Rest of the day free. Accommodation.

Day 2:

MEXICO CITY

Breakfast and departure for a city tour, visiting the Plaza de la Constitución, known as Zócalo, surrounded by beautiful baroque buildings, including the Cathedral (the largest religious monument in the country, built on the great Aztec Temple) and the National Palace, seat of the presidency of the Republic and places where you can admire the murals of Diego de Rivera. Also visiting the Templo Mayor, the recently discovered great temple of the capital of the Aztecs. Continuation to the south of the city, where we will make a stop along the way to visit the Bazaar of San Ángel (open only on Saturdays), one of the most colorful in the city. Transfer to Coyoacán. Lunch at a restaurant. In the afternoon, visit the Frida Kahlo Museum, better known as “La Casa Azul” (closed on Mondays), the site where the painter was born and died. Here you can find personal objects that reveal the personal life of the Latin American artist, as well as some important works such as Viva la Vida (1954), Frida y la caesárea (1931) and Portrait of my father Wilhem Kahlo (1952), among others. Mexico City - Querétaro - San Miguel de Allende

Breakfast and departure by road to Querétaro, capital of the state of the same name and one of the most important historical cities during the struggles for Independence. Panoramic tour of the city and continuation to San Miguel de Allende, a favorite place of residence for artists and intellectuals. Famous for its buildings that range from baroque to neo-Gothic, among which the impressive Parish of San Miguel Arcángel stands out. Free afternoon to walk around and enjoy this colonial city. Accommodation.

Day 4:

SAN MIGUEL DE ALLENDE - GUANAJUATO

Breakfast and departure to Atotonilco where we will visit the majestic 18th century Sanctuary dedicated to Jesus of Nazareth, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2008 due to its architecture and decoration that testifies to the influence of the doctrine of Saint Ignatius of Loyola. The church is composed of a main nave, the sacristy, six dressing rooms and seven adjoining chapels decorated with paintings by Juan Rodríguez Juárez. After the visit, continue to Guanajuato. Arrival and visit of this beautiful colonial city, starting with panoramic views from the El Pipila Monument and then continuing towards the center and visiting the Juárez Theater, the Basilica, the University, as well as its picturesque and narrow colonial streets, the underground streets (former river beds) and the famous "Callejón del Beso". Free afternoon and accommodation.

GUANAJUATO - GUADALAJARA

Breakfast and departure to the city of Guadalajara, also known for its beauty as "The Pearl of the West." Arrival and visit to the Tlaquepaque neighborhood, famous for making the finest handicrafts in the state. In the afternoon, visit the city center to see the Degollado Theater, the Government Palace, the Cathedral, the Rotunda of Illustrious Men and a panoramic view of the Hospicio Cabañas. Rest of the afternoon free. Accommodation.

Day 6:

GUADALAJARA - TEQUILA

Breakfast and departure to the Tequila region, named after the ancient and well-known Mexican drink. In the town of Tequila, you will visit the "La Rojeña" distillery where you will learn about the process of making this famous Mexican drink. During the visit you will have the opportunity to try authentic tequila from Jalisco. In the afternoon, transfer to the hotel where you can experience sleeping in rooms located in fields of Agave, an ancient plant that in pre-Hispanic times was even more important than corn and that upon the arrival of the Spanish was described as "The Tree of Wonders" due to the wealth it provided for the sustenance of the people, from which Tequila is now extracted. The landscape of the agave crops was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2006. Rest of the afternoon free. Accommodation.
