MEXICO CITY

Breakfast and departure for a half-day panoramic visit to the city center, to see the Plaza de la Constitución (better known as Zócalo), surrounded by beautiful baroque buildings, including the Cathedral, the most important religious monument. largest in the country built on the most outstanding Aztec temple; the National Palace, headquarters of the presidency of the Republic, where you can admire some of the murals by Diego de Rivera and the Templo Mayor, the great temple of the Aztec capital. MEXICO CITY – TUXTLA GUTIÉRREZ – SAN CRISTÓBAL DE LAS CASAS

Breakfast and transfer to the airport to depart on a local flight to Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Capital of the State of Chiapas. Depending on the flight schedule, transfer to the pier and boat ride in the Sumidero Canyon. Lunch at a local restaurant. Next, transfer to San Cristóbal de las Casas. Arrival and accommodation.

Day 5:

SAN CRISTÓBAL DE LAS CASAS

Breakfast. We will start the day with a visit to the local market, one of the most typical in the region where hundreds of indigenous people come daily to sell their products. Continuation with a visit to the baroque-style church of Santo Domingo, founded in 1547. Next, departure to visit the indigenous communities of San Juan Chamula and Zinacantan; The first one is very particular since in the church you can appreciate the influence of paganism in its ceremonies, while the second one differs a lot from the previous one because the Zinacanteco indigenous people are very attached to the Catholic faith. There they will have the opportunity to cook an authentic tortilla and taste a glass of "Pox", an ancient Mayan elixir. Return to San Cristóbal and free afternoon. Accommodation.

Day 6:

SAN CRISTÓBAL DE LAS CASAS - PALENQUE

Departure very early to Palenque, with a stop in Ocosingo to have breakfast at a local restaurant. During an approximate 5-hour drive along a mountain road, you can admire incredible changes in the lush vegetation of this area of Chiapas. Stop en route to visit the Agua Azul waterfalls. Free time to explore the area on your own and have lunch (not included). Arrival in Palenque in the late afternoon. Accommodation.

PALENQUE - CAMPECHE

Breakfast. In the morning, departure to the archaeological zone of Palenque located within the Chiapas jungle. The area offers in stone and stucco the beautiful realizations of the Mayan plastic and is considered one of the most beautiful areas of Mexico. Among all its temples, the most important is the so-called Temple of the Inscriptions, where the tomb of Pakal with his famous jade mask was discovered. After the visit, continue to Campeche, stopping en route for lunch at a local restaurant. Arrival at the hotel and accommodation.

CAMPECHE – UXMAL - MERIDA

Breakfast and departure to the archaeological zone of Uxmal. This area, whose name means "built in three stages", is a classic example of the classic and post-classic Maya era. The main buildings of Uxmal are: the Pyramid of the Fortune Teller, the Palace of the Governors and the Quadrangle of the Nuns. Lunch at a local restaurant and continue to Mérida, also known as "The White City", where its residences from the colonial era and French, Italian and Arab styles from the beginning of the century, testify to the past wealth born from the cultivation of sisal. Breakfast and departure to the archaeological zone of Chichén-Itzá, the Mayan capital of Yucatán that flourished between the 5th and 10th centuries A.D. During the visit you will see the impressive buildings of the northern and central archaeological zones: the temple of Kukulkan (Pyramid of the Feathered Serpent), the ball game, the observatory, the temple of the warriors, the convent of the nuns and the cenote. Lunch in a local restaurant and continue towards the Mexican Caribbean coast.
