Afterwards, we will continue our journey to "Al Alam Palace" (photo stop) flanked by the two Portuguese forts "Jalali & Mirani". We will visit the Bait Al Zubair museum, in order to understand a little more about Omani culture and history. Afterwards we will continue our tour along the Corniche promenade to "Mutrah Souq", one of the oldest souqs in Oman. The narrow alleys of the souq and the smell of mystical incense and sandalwood in the air are typical of this souq. Rest of the afternoon at leisure. Dinner and accommodation included in the hotel.
NOTES: Children under 10 are not allowed to enter the Grand Mosque. Ladies must wear long clothes and a headscarf for the visit. Gentlemen must have their arms and legs covered. It is open from Saturday to Wednesday from 08:00 to 11:00.
Day 4: MUSCAT - NIZWA
Breakfast. Leaving Muscat we will stop at the Amouage perfume and essence factory, the national brand par excellence that follows the tradition of Arabic perfume, whose perfumes are claimed to be the most expensive in the world. Then we will drive to Nizwa, which was the capital of "Al-Julanda dinasty" in the 6th and 7th centuries. Today it remains one of the most popular tourist attractions with its historical buildings and imposing fortress. We will visit the Nizwa Fort with its huge round tower built in the 17th century to defend the route to the interior. From the top of the tower you can get a panoramic view of the city of Nizwa. From here, it is a short walk to the Nizwa Souq, which is famous for its intricately hand-carved "KHANJAR" and silver jewelry with an ornate design. Here a unique auction of goats and cattle is eventually held. Then we will drive towards Jabreen Castle, stopping at Bahla so that we can take a photograph of the World Heritage Bahla Fort. Arrive at Jabreen to visit the finest castle in Oman built in the late 17th century which became the seat of Omani learning. This castle has extremely well planned layouts with space for the “Wali”, ladies’ bath, kitchen, “MAJLIS” etc. Most of the ceilings are decorated with beautiful paintings with Islamic motifs. Dinner at the hotel and overnight.
Day 5: NIZWA – SANDS OF WAHIBA
Breakfast and departure for a visit to the Nizwa souk, before heading towards the Wahiba Sands area. During the journey, we will pass through the villages of Minsifieh and Al Mudayrib, which have maintained their traditional atmosphere and character, where we will see old commercial towns. Once we reach the Wahiba Sands area, we will use 4x4 vehicles to move through the dunes to the desert camp. Time to relax and enjoy the desert. Dinner and accommodation at the camp.
Day 6: WAHIBA SANDS – WADI BANI KHALED – SOUTH
Breakfast. After enjoying the sunrise in the desert, we will return to the town of Biddiyah again in 4x4 vehicles. Then we will continue by bus to Wadi Bani Khaled in the Hajjar mountain range, one of the most impressive natural wadis in the Sultanate of Oman, a valley covered by mountains, with palm groves and paradisiacal rivers that form natural pools, where we can take a bath. We will continue to Sur, capital of the Sharqiya area. Early dinner at the hotel. Then, in the evening, visit the scientific center of Ras Al Jinz where we will see the turtle museum and if we are lucky, it is sometimes possible to see the giant turtles that come at night to lay their eggs in the sand, after a journey of several thousand kilometers through the seas and coasts of Asia and Africa. (The sighting of the turtles is something that cannot be guaranteed). Return to the hotel and accommodation.
