The funerary temple of Ramesses III (20th dynasty), now known as the temple of Medinet Habu (the city of Habu), is a fine example of New Kingdom architecture. It was modelled on the funerary temple of Ramesses II, the Ramesseum, and enlarged it. It is the best preserved in the area of Thebes and still retains much polychromy. After the visit, you will pass by the Colossi of Memnon and continue on to the Temple of Luxor, located in the centre of the city of Luxor. The temple was built by Amenophis III and Ramesses II in the 18th century BC, and was linked to the Temple of Karnak by the famous Avenue of the Sphinxes. One of the obelisks at the entrance to the temple was brought to the Place de Concorde in Paris. After visiting Luxor, we headed to the Karnak Temple, the temple of Amun Ra (the sacred enclosure of Thebes) which is full of obelisks, columns and gigantic statues.
