Day 5: TUCUMAN - CAFAYATE

Breakfast and departure to Cafayate through Tafí del Valle, Amaicha and Quilmes. Route 307 marks the ascent to the Valleys. The road goes into the Quebrada del Río Los Sosa and we stop at the monument “El Indio”. Further up, we arrive at El Mollar to visit Los Menhires (*). Then we visit the picturesque town of Tafí del Valle. RP 307 ascends to the Calchaquíes Valleys in a pronounced zigzag to the Abra del Infiernillo, at 3,042 meters above sea level. In Amaicha del Valle we visited the square and its surroundings. The trip continues along the RN 40, with the Sacred City of Quilmes that breaks out on the left. At the foot of the hill you can see the reconstructions of the residential area, topped by a fortress located on the top and two forts on both sides. The legendary RN 40 gets lost in the valley heading north, but not before passing through Colalao del Valle. Day 6: CAFAYATE - SALTA

Breakfast. Cafayate, located in the province of Salta, is one of the most important points in the Calchaquí Valleys for its powerful wine industry; Its Calchaquí, Spanish, immigrant and Creole history, resulted in this city having a style between colonial and baroque at the end of the 19th century. You will visit the wineries where you can taste the particular Torrontés wine. Then, departure to Salta through the majestic Quebrada de las Conchas, where the curious formations eroded by the wind and water will be the main attraction: the dunes, the toad, the bishop, the devil's throat, the castles, the amphitheater, among others. Arrival at the hotel and accommodation.

Day 7: JUMP

Breakfast. Free morning. In the afternoon, tour of the most attractive places in the city: Basilica Cathedral, Cultural Center of the Americas, Historical Museum of the North (Cabildo), Minor Basilica of San Francisco, San Bernardo Convent, Monument to Güemes and ascent to Cerro San Bernardo to enjoy a panoramic view of the city. We will also visit the summer town of San Lorenzo, on the outskirts of the city, with its subtropical microclimate and the Craft Market where handicrafts with certification of origin from all over the province are exhibited. Return to the hotel and accommodation.

Day 8: SALTA – PURMAMARCA (JUJUY)

Breakfast. Departure on an excursion to San Antonio de los Cobres, the Salinas Grandes de Purmamarca. The road runs parallel to the railway of the famous "Tren de las Nubes" (Cloud Train) through the Quebrada del Toro. Continue on to begin the ascent to 4,080 m.a.s.l. Arrival in San Antonio de los Cobres and free time for lunch (not included) before continuing to the Salinas Grandes, right on the border between Salta and Jujuy. Next, begin the descent down Cuesta de Lipán, where condors are often spotted. Arrival in the town of Purmamarca with its famous Cerro de los Siete Colores (Cerro de los Siete Colores) in the background. Overnight stay.

Day 9: PURMAMARCA (JUJUY) – HUMAHUACA - SALTA

Breakfast and departure for a trip through the Quebrada, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, where the landscape and the colors of the hills blend with the cultures that inhabit this area. It is a trip of social contact and a glimpse into the ancestral past. We will pass by the Posta de Hornillos to reach the town of Tilcara and visit the Pucará and the Archaeological Museum. Continue to Huacalera, passing by the Tropic of Capricorn. Visit the Church of Uquía, where the paintings of the Arcabuceros Angels (from the Cuzco school) are housed. Arrival in Humahuaca with its important Cathedral and the Independence Monument (El Indio). After lunch (not included), departure to observe the Painter's Palette that frames the town of Maimara. Day 10: JUMP - IGUAZU

Day 11: IGUAZÚ – IGUAZÚ NATIONAL PARK (Argentine side) - IGUAZÚ

Breakfast. Departure on a full day excursion to visit the Argentine side of the Iguazú Falls, located within the Iguazú National Park. With an area of 67,000 hectares, the falls are made up of 275 waterfalls with an average height of 70 meters. In this part of the sub-tropical jungle it is possible to observe a variety of ferns, orchids, begonias, birds and butterflies. We head towards the Central Station where our option is to take a train service that takes us to the Cataratas Station and/or Garganta del Diablo Station. From this place, for the visit you can choose one of the following options:


  • Paseo Superior: 800-meter route of elevated walkways above the surface of the land in order not to hinder or scare away the passage of the fauna that inhabits the Jungle. Highlights: Dos Hermanas, Bosetti, Bernabé Méndez and M'Bigua waterfalls. Duration of the walk 1 hour. Difficulty range: low, without stairs.
  • Lower Promenade: 1,600-meter walk along a raised walkway above the ground surface. Highlights: Dos Hermanas waterfalls, Alvear Nuñez, San Martín, Bosetti, the Peñón de la Bella Vista (with a panoramic view of the Devil's Throat and the Lower Iguazú River Canyon). Duration of the walk 2 hours. Difficulty range: moderate, with stairs.
  • Devil's Throat: leaving from Cataratas Station, the train will take us to Garganta Station. The walk along the catwalks will be about 1,200 meters to delight us with the spectacular balcony of the most important waterfall in the National Park: the Garganta del Diablo. Duration of the walk 2 hours. Difficulty range: low, no stairs.

On its several-kilometer-long front we will observe constant calving of enormous blocks of ice onto the waters of Lake Argentino. Quite a spectacle that can be seen from strategically located catwalks. I'll go back to the hotel, then I have the rest of the day free. Accommodation.
