Documentation
Spanish people only need a valid passport with a minimum validity of 6 months from the date of return. Tourists can stay in Costa Rica for a maximum of 30 calendar days.
Language
The official language is Spanish, but English is also spoken by many professionals and some immigrants from Jamaica.
Religion
The Catholic religion is the one institutionalized by the state, although there is freedom of belief.
Currency
The official currency since 1896 is the colon. It is divided into 100 parts called cents. The current coins in circulation are 5, 10, 25, 50, 100 and 500 colones, and the bills are 1,000, 2,000, 5,000, 10,000, 20,000 and 50,000. €1 is equivalent to approximately 590 colones. Money can be exchanged at banks and authorized exchange agencies.

Credit cards are widely accepted in the country.
Electricity
The common voltage is 120 V. The frequency is 60 Hz. The plugs have two parallel flat pins and a third round one. If you travel from Spain you will need an adapter.
Climate
It has a tropical climate. The northwest-southeast orientation of the mountain system divides it into two slopes: the Pacific, has a dry season from December to March and a rainy season from May to October, with precipitation predominantly during the afternoon and early hours of the night; and the Caribbean, does not have a defined dry season, in the coastal areas there are two relatively dry periods, the first between February and March and the second between September and October. In addition, there are two rainy periods interspersed between the dry ones, the first runs from November to January and is the maximum rainy period and the second extends from May to August.
Health
Vaccines are not required to enter the country. It is advisable to be careful with water consumption in rural areas, preferably drinking it bottled. It is recommended to take extreme preventive measures against mosquito bites, such as: Wearing long-sleeved shirts and long pants, using insect repellents, avoiding places and times prone to the proliferation of mosquitoes as much as possible and covering bottles. of soft drinks and any container in which water or liquids are stored.

It has a cuisine with an intense mix, strongly conditioned by its tropical environment, very close to the Mediterranean diet, with notable contributions of Latin American, African, indigenous, Afro-Antillean, Eastern and other parts of Europe. In addition, it generates an exuberant range of food products; enriched with the fruits of the sea because its coasts are bathed by two oceans. It has culinary regions well defined by its geography and cultural development: Western and Eastern Central Valley, Guanacaste and Northern Zone, Puntarenas and Limón. With a common base composed primarily of foods such as: gallo pinto, casado, picadillos, carne pot, gallitos, empanadas, pasta, fresh fruit and coffee.
Helpful tips
In restaurants and hotels, the tip is included in the final price, being between 10% - 13%, however, if you are more than satisfied with the service and wish to leave a tip, it will be welcome.
