Guadalajara, capital of the state of Jalisco, founded in 1542. The second most important city in Mexico for its population, trade and first place for its development and growth. Known as the “City of Roses”, it has one of the greatest cultural riches of our country. The city in western Mexico known for tequila and mariachis, both originating in Jalisco, the state whose capital is Guadalajara. Its historic center is dotted with plazas and colonial monuments, such as the neoclassical Teatro Degollado and a cathedral with two bell towers with golden spires. The Government Palace houses famous murals by the painter José Clemente Orozco.
