Guanajuato is a city in central Mexico, famous for its historic silver mines as well as its colonial architecture. It is made up of a network of alleys and tunnels, among which the Alley of the Kiss stands out, so called because the balconies are so close that two people could kiss if they leaned from them. In the Alhóndiga de Granaditas, an old grain warehouse, there is the local art and history museum, which offers exhibitions on pre-Columbian culture. Among the most popular and well-known legends are The Mummies of Guanajuato, La Llorona, El Usurero del Baratillo, Calle del Truco, Callejón de la Condesa and Jardín del Cantador. Being the main Colonial City of the Country has earned it several titles in its history, as it is the Cervantine Capital of America, World Capital of Cultural Heritage, Ibero-American Cradle of Don Quixote, City of Light and home of the most important artistic event in Latin America.
