Documentation
Passport is required for all visitors. Some nationalities require a visa. Spaniards do not need a visa to visit Morocco, only a passport with a minimum validity of 3 months (6 months for the rest of the nationalities).
Language
The official language is Arabic, as well as the Berber dialects. Although most Moroccans speak French and many also speak Spanish.
Religion
Islam is the official religion of Morocco. Access to mosques and holy places is prohibited to non-Muslims, except for the Great Mosque of Hassan II in Casablanca, where visits are allowed outside of prayer hours and upon payment of the entrance fee.
Traditions
Mint tea is the symbol of hospitality and is frequently offered. In the souks it is common practice to haggle over prices. To take photos of people, it is advisable to ask their permission.
Climate
On the coast, the climate is pleasant practically all year round, although in the north in winter it can cool down and increase humidity. In the plains, the most propitious time for tourism is the one that covers the months of October to April, since in it the days are warm or hot (around 30ºC) and the nights are cool and even cold (approximately 15ºC). . In the higher altitude regions it is necessary to be well prepared for winter. If you plan to visit the mountains, the ski season usually runs from December to March.
Health
No vaccinations are required for travelers from Europe. It is recommended to drink bottled water.
Currency
The official currency is the Dirham. It can be obtained at banks, exchange offices and hotel receptions. Although in most shops they accept other types of international currencies such as the Euro. €1 is equivalent to approximately 10 dirhams, although the change can vary both upwards and downwards.
Payment methods
Credit cards are generally accepted in hotels, restaurants, boutiques and shops in the souks.
Electricity
220 V and the plugs are European type. 110 V in some older areas.
Means of transport
Taxi transport is quite cheap in Morocco, it is recommended to agree on the price of the service in advance. There are 2 types of taxis: petit taxi and grand taxi. Petit taxis only have permission to circulate within cities and have capacity for 3 occupants. Grand taxis can carry out services between cities and have capacity for more occupants.
Drinks
The sale of alcohol in Morocco is not prohibited, it can be found in most hotels, restaurants, pubs, discos and even supermarkets.
